DEAF DEALER “Journey Into Fear”
Cult Metal Classics
It’s not an official review, but a summary of few things I would like to tell about this release, so please forgive me writing in first person. “Journey Into Fear” is like holy grail of Heavy Metal: die hard fans know these songs quite well, especially old and grumpy bastards like me, who were into tape trading back in the day. Due to various circumstances this material has never been properly released. Until now. Hard to say what would happen if this album would came out back then, in 1987, as the truth is that except maybe Exciter and Annihilator, there aren’t many Canadian bands who really gained bigger popularity. But one thing is sure: “Journey Into Fear” would be one of the very best Heavy Metal albums of 1987. And yes, I remember Dio released “Dream Evil”, Sabbath released “The Eternal Idol”, and Savatage released “Hall Of The Mountain King” in 1987. And I will write it again: “Journey Into Fear” is one of the very best albums of 1987, which you can put in one line with those 3 monuments I just mentioned. It doesn’t matter if you knew Deaf Dealer / Death Dealer before, or if you see this name for the first time: if you love traditional Heavy Metal, and you appreciate good songs, just buy it, as I’m almost sure you will love it. For me, it’s one of the very best reissues ever (if we can call it a reissue) - I’m really happy it’s out, and I need to say Cult Metal Classics did an amazing job, as the album not only sounds great, but the entire package is really cool, including great looking cover artwork and booklet.
